Losing Weight, Not Cash.

It seems appropriate to write about exercise since I've officially lost 15 pounds and 2 inches in 123 days.  I have done this naturally and without spending any money.  I have an exercise routine of 30 min a day 4x a week and consume, on average, 1300 each day.  Of course, I do allow myself a cheat day once each week since studies have shown it helps you long term in creating healthy eating habits.  I am, by no means, an expert when it comes to diet and exercise.  I simply found this is what worked (and is still working) for me.

I have always enjoyed the gym.  There's something invigorating about burning off stress while making your body stronger.  Most places we had memberships for were on the inexpensive side, but all that changed after our first child was born.  We discovered, very quickly, that if we wanted to find a gym that had childcare than we were going to pay...a lot...of money.  (I would like to give credit to the Ontario Community Center since they do offer childcare on certain week nights and their prices are agreeable.  However, we no longer live in Wayne County and there are no childcare providing Community Centers in our area.)

We found that in order to get around paying the high costs of gym memberships, without sacrificing a good workout, we needed to find ways to exercise at home.  There are so many things you can do for free!  You Tube offers many different types of videos, the great outdoors provides an entire playground for toning your body, and body weight training is one of the most effective tools available to us.  All of these things cost us nothing.

Dave and I also found some great deals on used exercise equipment through Craigslist.  We personally own an elliptical, weight bench with all it's accessories, and rowing machine.  We both spend time multiples days a week fueling our body with endorphins through exercise.  Mayo Clinic explains the benefits of exercise as; controlling weight, combating health conditions and diseases, improving your mood, boosting energy, promoting better sleep, spicing up intimacy in your marriage, and having fun!

You don't have to spend hundreds of dollars to enjoy a healthy lifestyle.  You simply have to be willing to find ways of doing it on your own!  Over these past 4 months I have not; paid for a gym membership, used any diet enhancer, or followed a specific diet plan.  Other than the free app My Fitness Pal this is an endeavor I've succeeded at doing with no outside help.  Motivation and self control are two extremely effective, and completely free, tools we all posses.  Set your own (reachable) goals and find ways to conquer them!

Here are a few Jillian Michaels videos I've enjoyed and seen results from...
