Happy birthday, Dad.

In the eyes of this "little" girl there are few who measure up to my dad.  He has spent my entire life serving in ministry.  First as a missionary and then as a pastor.  He is devoted to touching the lives of the people around him and to being the most godly man he can be.  However, caring for our family has always been his first priority.

Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
Ephesians 5:21

Dad taught us through his actions what it means for a husband to be the head of the home and how a wife is to be treated.

Husbands, love your wives,
just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her.
Husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies.
He who loves his wife loves himself.
Ephesians 5:25, 28

He was always gentle with Becky, Alisha and me and there is no denying his love for each one of us.

Fathers, do not exasperate your children;
instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord."
Ephesians 6:4

He has adopted his son-in-laws and grandson into this family with open arms and has demonstrated to each of us what it means to be a servant.

Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people,
because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do."
Ephesians 6: 7-8a

All five his grandchildren light up when he is in the room and delight in spending time with Poppie.  He is committed to teaching the next generation of this family about the love of Jesus.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.
Ephesians 6:10

He's a wonderful husband, the best father, and an incredible grandfather.  Having him in my life is one of God's greatest blessings!  Happy birthday, dad, I love you.
