Happy birthday, Mom.

Today is a special day.  A day to honor the most compassionate, giving and selfless person I know.  A true Proverbs 31 woman... My Mom.

If you do not know my mom, then you are missing out on a special relationship.    My entire life she has served in ministry alongside my dad sacrificially and has modeled what it looks like to be a godly wife.

A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
Her husband has full confidence in her,
and lacks nothing of value.
She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
Proverbs 31:10-12

As a mother she raised Becky, Alisha and me with strong convictions deep rooted in faith.  She has always been there when we need her and, to this day, will drop everything on our behalf.  It wasn't until I became a mom myself that I realized how much she gave of herself in order to give us girls what we needed, and I appreciate her even more now that I understand her mother's heart.

She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children arise and call her blessed...
Proverbs 31:25-28a

She is completely adored as a grandmother and spends many of her days surrounding herself with her grandchildren.

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
Honor her for all that her hands have done...
Proverbs 31:30-31a

I am blessed to have her not only as my mom, but also as my friend.  Happy birthday, mom, I love you!
